Ten on Tuesday Made me miss my Water Aerobics class. Bummer.

1. Ikea: over-hyped and confusing or genius furniture company? I personally find Ikea to be terrifying.  It's like a labyrinth of Euro furniture, and sometimes I worry I won't make it out alive.

2. Your favorite interior-decorator-type person wants to makeover one room in your house. Which room do you choose and why?  Hmm, I would say the great room.  Note: Our room really isn't that "great," but the living room/dining room/kitchen is all one big space that runs together.

3. Describe the furniture in your childhood bedroom. Did you like it? Where is that furniture now?  Ha.  My first bed is the same twin bed I took with me during my final year in college.  My uncle now uses it in his assisted living facility.  The fake wooden bookcase that I covered in stickers is stashed in my parents' garage somewhere, and the teddy bear lamp is nowhere to be found.  Also, my boy band posters from middle school were finally removed when my room became the nursery for Myla and future grandbabies.  Yes, they totally have a nursery.  No, the baby doesn't live there.

4. When you’re done with furniture, what do you do with it? Donate it to Goodwill OR Sell it on Craigslist OR Put it by the curb and hope the trash guys take it?  Well, it seems that the basic rule of thumb in our house is that we don't get rid of anything.  But in rare cases where we do, we almost always donate.

5. My Pinterest furniture style could best be described as
funky/eclectic
antique/shabby chic
modern/minimalist
so random and varied it’s undefinable
I have no idea.  I think the only home-type pin I have is this beautiful room that almost looks like a ski lodge.  I kind of like the wooden cabin and limestone feel.  I just like warm, inviting rooms that are maybe a little country.  Yet I have no decorating skills (or the budget) to make this actually happen.

6. Name the most important furniture/toy in a toddler’s playroom. And why? Right now, the living room is Myla's play space, and her favorite toys seem to be boxes that held the real toys.  She also likes those obnoxious musical toys and riding toys.

7. Your parents (or grandparents or other relative) are giving away all their furniture. Which piece do you really want?  Mom and Dad, I love you, but I don't want any of your furniture. 

8. Your biggest furniture buying or home decorating regret?  To date, I have only bought two pieces of furniture in my life: a chair from Craigslist (now the dog chair), and a bed.  I don't regret either of them!  Also, I don't know how to decorate, so maybe that is my real regret.

9. $1000 gift card! Do you want it to Ethan Allen, ikea, Pottery Barn Kids?  Uhhh.  Can I switch it to Target?

10. Bunk beds, loft beds, trundle beds, or canopy beds?  In our situation, bunks or trundles.  Our kids keep multiplying, so eventually, we'll have to just stack 'em up.

Friday Updates in Yo Face

• Well, the big girl bed thing is going pretty dang well.  We are spoiled.  We spent a couple of nights waiting until she fell asleep in the bed before abandoning her, then we just left her in there the next few days after saying "night night."  So far, she has not gotten out of the bed and has been sleeping through the night (about 4 days total).  Thank you, Jesus!  Also, now that she's 15 months old, we have our baby monitor surveillance camera set up in her room for the first time, so we can see pictures like this: (I know the night vision makes it tough to see, but she's sprawled out with one leg up on the body pillow we stuck there to keep her from falling in a crack).
•  We are officially going to see the Hunger Games tomorrow at 11:15 a.m, because that's what time you go see movies when you get old.  I am so excited!  I am planning on starting my book re-read today.  I hope I have time to finish it before tomorrow!
• Dave and I finally found a Netflix show to start streaming: Lie to Me.  It's cool, because it's a crime show that doesn't really focus on the gruesome crime part, but more of the mystery solving part.  The casting is pretty good, and it's been nice to have something to watch on weekends, you know, when we aren't out at really cool parties and stuff.  Once we finish this, I might devise some sort of plan to steal the West Wing and Felicity from some friends.  Dun dun duuuuuun!
• My dad always talks about how he spent so much money on my Spanish degree, and I never speak Spanish.  Well, the other day, I totally had to explain (in Spanish) to my sweet elderly neighbor that her dog escaped their backyard and was wandering around the street.  Achievement: unlocked.
• I don't even know where that phrase came from; I just stole it from my friend, Erik.
• Now that springtime is officially here, lawn mowing season has picked back up.  You should know this: I never, ever complain about our lawn guy, because Dave never complains about our housekeeper.  And let me tell you, she's not that good.  Anyway, we Dave kept the front yard looking decent to avoid any pesky HOA letters, but the backyard got a little bit...lush.  Proof?

1. Should we keep doing Ten on Tuesday?
     Sure!  I'm not great at updating, so sometimes it helps me do a post without having to think of something exciting/funny that's happening in my life.  So yes, Ten on Tuesday should exist just because I'm lazy.

2. How do you pick out your sunglasses?
     I head to Target and look for the pair that's the smallest.  I wore Hot Wheels sunglasses all through college because my head is the size of a child's.  

3. Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
     No, not really.  I might if I was still in college.  All day though, I was wondering: who is Saint Patrick, and why does he want us to drink green beer?

4. Name 5 movies that you will never get sick of.
     -  The Sound of Music
     -  Dirty Dancing
     -  Die Hard
     -  The Other Sister
     -  A League of their Own

5. Name 1 book that you will never get sick of.
    I should do the Christian answer and say the bible.  But if we're talking pleasure reading, then I'm not sure.  My current excitement makes me think the Hunger Games.  Possibly Redeeming Love or something by Jodi Piccoult (even though those are too emotionally exhausting to read over and over again).

6. Do you know any sign language?
      I know about five words that are actually helpful, and a few more that won't get me anywhere, like "turtle" and "poop."

7. What is your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie?
     Tagalongs.  I refuse to call them "Peanut Butter Patties."  Who decided it was ok to change the name?!  Also, I have a love/hate relationship with them.  I love them, but I hate when I eat them a half box at a time.

8. Are you handy? (Can you fix or build anything?)
    No.  Dave is handy, and I'm usually the one who breaks things.

9. In what form do you prefer your potatoes? (Baked, mashed, au gratin, hashbrowns, twice baked, etc.)
    Mashed.  Stick with the classics.

10. Do you believe the saying “actions speak louder than words”?
    I guess.  It's a nice phrase, but I think it's important that your actions and your words match up.

And by "we," I really mean "I".  I'm the one who can't deal with surprises!  Oh well, maybe next time...

Myla's 15-Month Antics

Full disclosure: this post is all about well-baby stats and photographic/video evidence that Myles is pretty hilarious.  If you have better things to read, see ya later!

Girl, you have a big nugget and a little body (all the better to fit your big brain). Also, you hate our wonderful doctor with a fiery passion.  I hope that ends someday!  I'm sorry you had to get so many shots, but the Andes mint seemed to work like a charm after the stabbing was over.

Myla has started a new climbing phase.  For the most part, I try and let her explore her surroundings this way (provided that she's pretty close to the ground).  Ask me again about my stance on this after we take our first trip to the ER.
