Ten on Tuesday

Again, I stole this from Chelsea's blog.  Today’s questions come from Nora at Walking With Nora.

1. What are your thoughts on Valentine’s Day. Do you love it? Hate it?
I don't love it or hate it.  I guess I like it fine.  Dave and I have only had two Valentine's dates together.  For both, I picked a meal and make him cook it.  This year I got him a card, and he left me little post-it notes around the house.  It was perfect.

2. What is your favorite romantic comedy?
The Other Sister.

3. Meg Ryan & John Mellencamp: what’s your first reaction?
"I like Meg with short hair.  I should probably google John Mellencamp."

4. All time favorite poem or quote?
I'm not a very quote-y person, but I kind of like this one. "If at first you don't succeed, try reading the instructions." (I don't know who said it).

5. What’s the longest amount of time you’ve gone without sleep? (like consecutive hours).
Maybe 24 hours once in my life.  We're talking lock-in night at church in middle school.  I'm pretty much a granny.  The only other time I stayed up around 21 hours in a row was when the Astros were in the playoffs and the games kept going into 500 innings.

6. What color ink do you prefer to use?
It depends on my mood.  Blue/black for something where I have to look like an adult, but fun colors for things at home.

7. Share with us a blog that you recently found and fell in love with (and link us!)
I have a love/hate relationship with MckMama's blog.  Apparently, she's somewhat blog famous or something.  For some reason, she has followers and "haters," and it has been getting way too drama with commenters (which I didn't even know could happen).  Yet, I still find myself reading it everyday.  It might be a problem.

8. If you could be on a reality TV show which one would you choose?
The Amazing Race (with Dave).  Although, I'm not sure our marriage could handle it.  That, or Wipeout.

9. Mountains or Beach?
Mountains.  For some reason I can't un-bold this answer.

10. With the Oscars around the corner, what’s your pick for best picture?
I have only seen one of the nominated movies (The Social Network).  I did think it was really good, but I'll make my pick based on the movie I want to see the most out of all the nominees: The King's Speech.  I want to see it even though it's not at Redbox yet, and that's saying something.

A Little Gift from my Valentine

I'd say he did pretty well!

Dave and I have been thinking about getting a car for a while now, and it all came together pretty quickly after saving this year.  We needed something a little more dependable with less than 150,000 miles so I don't get stranded on the side of the road somewhere with the added complication of a baby.  While we didn't exactly pay cash (sorry Dave Ramsey), we should be completely finished paying it off in a couple of months.

It's a 2010 Ford Escape Limited, and while I don't know what the "Limited" means, Dave does, and it's something good.  It's a pretty fun little ride.  It's actually the smallest, lightest car I've ever driven.  I come from a family of gas guzzlers.

Thanks for taking care of us, Dave!
(These are your typical low-quality, dark garage photos)

We decided to start driving lessons early.  She's a natural.

Dos Meses and Dr. Oz Musings...

I can't believe Scooter is two months old!  She's practically ready for college already.  Time flies when you're having babies.  We had her doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and her stats are:

Head circumference: 15 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
Length: 22 3/8 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 10 lbs, 8 ounces (50th percentile)
Cuteness: 100th percentile

She was a trooper during all her shots.  Dave had the dirty job of holding her arms back, and he almost requested that I leave the room.  I'm proud to say, I did great.  No tears actually fell out of my eyes, but they may have welled up a bit...  Next time, I'm on my own, so I better toughen up.  Myla cried for literally 5 seconds and stopped as soon as the stabbings were over.  What a gangsta.  She took a nice, long nap later on that day, and all seemed well in the world.

Fast forward to Thursday.  This is the face I saw for the majority of the day:
Poor kid had a rough day.  Her eating and sleeping patterns were all outta whack, and it made for a not-so-fun day.  I decided to forgo Community Group so she could have her normal bedtime routine.  (aka the bath and the boob).  TMI?  Well, too bad.

Today, she's back to being the best baby around.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I'm not really a Dr. Oz viewer (I swear, Dave, I'm not!), but today it happened to be on while I was feeding the pooper.  I watched for a few minutes before starting to blog...  There were literally women on the show who confessed to never being seen naked by their husbands.  Never.  They had even had babies!  They claimed to always have a shirt or skirt on even in bed.

Talk about issues.

Winter Wonderland

Man, what a crazy few days we just had.  First of all, check out this crazy blizzard that came through!
What's that?  You can't see the tiny frozen droplets of water on the grass?  Oh well.

Luckily, due to horrible Houston drivers, people got the day off!  For me this meant that I got to watch the two loves of my life play together while I drank hot chocolate on the couch.

See?!
This is Dave and miniature Dave watching Despicable Me.  Afterward, they had a mini dance partay.  (I swear she enjoyed it more than it appears).

Can't Think of a Title...

All of my thoughts are pretty random and incoherent, so it's back to the bullet system.  (I have always secretly liked note-taking and outlining, and it always really bothered me in class when a teacher went off on a tangent that messed up my organizational method).

-  I guess that was a tangent in itself.  Whoops.

-  At the end of February, I Myla and I are going to start spending the day with this little cutie.  This picture is already old, so his cheeks are three times that size now!  This is my little cuz "Mo" who is about three weeks younger than Scooter.

-  Yesterday, Myla and I went to LA Fitness to reactivate my gym membership.  On the way home, I went to Chic-Fil-A to get a cookies and cream milkshake.  True story.

-  Speaking of working out, in all of my blog stalking I came across this cookie I want to make.  I already forgot where I found it, but all you do is make peanut butter sandwiches out of Ritz crackers and coat them in that chocolate bark stuff.  Sounds simple and awesome!

-  I am new to babywearing, but starting to enjoy it.  I will have to admit, I was too scared to get a Moby Wrap, because I was fairly sure that I would never be able to get a baby tied to me like that without help even though they look so cozy in there.  Now Myla and I run errands kind of like this:
She's bigger now and sits more upright, but we go around town with the Balboa Ring Sling.  She loves it.  If she's screaming while I get her in there, sometimes I have to manhandle her legs so they bend, but after that, she's good to go.

-  Myla had her first manicure.  Yes, we left our kid with growing nails for almost 8 weeks.  We finally decided it was time to do something after she started scratching our necks everyday.  Who was in charge of nails?  You guessed it-- Dave.  He just used a file.  Maybe one day we'll be ballsy enough to whip out the clippers.

-  Sometimes when the Pooper is screaming at me, Dave takes her and she magically chills out and starts to watch tv with him.  Stinkin daddy's girl.
(By the way, until she grows into her hand-me-down diapers from our friend Erin, we are using regular prefold diapers under Thirsty wraps.  They have been working out pretty well so far.  No blowouts, but I still never put her in cloth overnight or take her out of the house in them.  Maybe one day).

-  Babies look so much sweeter when they're napping.  And yes, I know I'm going to smother her to death with all the things in her crib.  She has the Ipad in there because she is so tech savvy.  (Actually, it's playing some white noise).

- Here's one last picture for good measure:
